Taking the time to convert that many files and get them re imported so they can be re edited (or forced offline and reconnected with the new media) seems a bit silly when the files were working in Premiere in the past. I have 350+ source files in the HEVC format and a bunch of them were already edited (in Premiere CC) back in August. Just confirmed Handbrake will convert the media. Original Media does play on my machine using IINA. Converting the footage via Media Encoder or creating proxies in Premiere results in the footage having the gray baked into the output file. I would really like to be able to edit this footage again. This started immediately on my new machine (I have a Creative Cloud All Apps account) and from what I gather I should have received a prompt to download the missing codec, but I have never seen such a prompt come up. Hey there, I switched to a new computer months ago and have lost the ability to edit HEVC footage that I have edited in previous projects. (I have the codec, btw - cost $0.99 from windows store - i needed it to view the original file in windows media player). But trying to render /export it gives the message "This file requires the HEVC codec." and am unable to proceed. Able to import the clip and trim it, add transition etc. The free trials are available too but they expire after a while. Influx and AfterCodecs should just solve issues. I'm not sure how true it is for 2020 to 2023 suites as I no longer have a subscription and am using alternate software aside from adobe. By the way everything I mentioned is true for Adobe CC 2018. You need to find a plugin for adobe that will install the H.265 Codec to be able o use it outside of Adobe Premiere. And it does not show up a a rendering option in After Effects. The H.265 codec only seems to be working in Premiere Pro.
